Welcome to Flash Your Stash 2006, brought to you a day early due to our ski trip.

We will begin our journey by walking into the Room of Heaven Yarn, also known as the home office.
In this corner, we have the visible storage area.

But, wait! Most of my friends think this is the end of the Stash. My husband knows better, and gives me grief about it all the time. I also have one of those closets to the right of the visible storage full...
Looking in both doors... (note the bottom shelf is filled with comforters)...

What is in all those containers? Well, let's start with the stuff on top of the visible storage.

This is recently purchased Plymouth Italia Fingerpaints, which was recommended by Spinnity for a quick baby sweater pattern (thanks Spinnity!). In front is a bit of La Lana Wools Phat Silk (DK weight) that I bought at Stitches. It hasn't told me what it wants to be yet.

This is the contents of that basket on the right, on top of the visible storage. It's the the Lace and Lash Basket. You'll see, from top, Colinette 2-ply laceweight yarn (bought as part of a lot of stuff from ebay), Golden Siam Silk from Artfibers, Binario by Trendsetter, Ritratto by S. Charles, Tobi Moire from Habu, Merino Artisan Lace in two buttons and one ball, ArtYarns Silk for making the Lace Corset, some random eyelash for scarves bought on sale. In the middle is a hank of turquoise Whiskers from Great Adirondack and some Habu Kusaki-zome Silk.
And now to those plastic drawers... these are mostly worsted weight, with the exception of one drawer. (Descriptions are under the photos.)

The exception to the worsted collection is the Sock Yarn Drawer. I'm new to sock knitting but that doesn't keep me from having a stash of it! Hiding in there is some Lana Grossa, Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock, Regia, Koigu, and that little touch of turquoise on the right is part of a hank Tess Super Socks & Baby. Underneath it all, hiding from you, is some Socks That Rock mediumweight. I think the Lana Grossa on the left (Fun & Stripes) might be used for a baby sweater rather than socks.

Moving down the drawers, in the back, some Cherry Tree Hill Cotton Boucle leftover from Davis's sweater, newly purchased Noro Blossom on sale at Webs, some Lobster Pot Cashmere from the Full Thread Ahead booth at Stitches, and some Classic Elite Charmed Cashmere-Mohair on sale from some web site.

In the next drawer down, you'll see a bunch of Beaverslide worsted wool in jewel tones waiting to become a fair-isle sweater to be inflicted on my kids (or maybe intarsia?), and some Chasing Rainbows silk-wool for a Clapotis.

This is a slew of Cherry Tree Hill Potluck Worsted that hasn't told me what it wants to be yet. It's one of those e-bay purchases that I wouldn't make now but it seemed like a good idea a couple of years ago. Peeking out in the front right is some wool-cotton-linen from White Lies, leftover from the Valentine Tank & Stole kit.

Starting with the back left, we see Berroco Furz, which was a Knit Picks on-sale purchase back when Knit Picks sold other yarns. Soft stuff, but I'm not so enamored of the idea of knitting a tank with it now. Clockwise, some handpainted cotton from ebay, some Fiesta Watermark mohair-wool from Stitches (2 hanks, Amazon colorway), two hanks of Rainbow Wools purchased at Full Thread Ahead (for the "kid project" collection), one hank of Cherry Tree Hill Ballerini mini, and a hank of Colinette Mezzotint (what the heck am I going to do with that?).

Welcome to the drawer of brown, which is mostly Araucania Nature Wool, with a hank of crap from Newton's Yarn Country (what was I thinking? Oh yeah, 50% off.) and some novelty stuff that I hated but haven't gotten rid of yet.

This drawer is better. Starting at top left, Jo Sharp Rare Comfort Mohair in purple, Running Wild Yarns wool in purple from Circles in Boston, Encore gifted from my mom, Cascade 220 in yellow leftover from a Harry Potter Scarf, 2 hanks of Oak Grove Peekaboo In Seabreeze, a hank of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in Purple Iris, 2 hanks of Brown Sheep Handpaint Originals in Stormy Skies, and some leftover Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in Layette that I used for a baby hat. I think it would be nice with that yellow Cascade you see here.

Starting at top left, Sirdar Snuggly purchased for a kid pullover in rose, navy and white (with some horrid furry stuff underneath), Valeria di Roma Topacio bought on sale because it seemed like a good idea at the time, Berroco Jewel FX (again a random buy), Cherry Tree Hill Cotton Boucle for a baby sweater (heck, I might use it for myself), K1C2 Meringue, a ball of Classic Elite Dazzle, one hank of Colinette Graffiti.

And saving the best drawer for last, the Drawer of Noro. On the left and right, Silk Garden, and some Kochoran in the middle.
Moving to the closet...

One bin of Sirdar Snowflake, for the pattern you see here.

One bin of Jaeger Flamenco, which I inherited with my grandmother died. It came with a pattern book.

A bin of DK yarns - from left, Organic Cotton to make a pattern from Interweave Knits, cotton from Barcelana, a large hank of black yarn with a multicolored thread through it from Newton's Yarn Country at Stitches, a sweater's worth of K1C2 Creme Brulee merino, and some Brooks Farm Harmony.

More DK weight... Colinette DK on the left (in and out of the bin), leftover Buttons yarn from a kid sweater, Colinette chenille in front in the bin. Outside the bin, on the right, some Filatura No Smoking leftover from this now on sale on ebay, and some leftover Soy Silk Chenille.

The DK Cotton bin. Clockwise from top left: Classic Elite Star on close-out in a range of colors (WTF?), Cascade Sierra gifted from my mom when she decided cotton intarsia is the source of all evil, a slew of cotton boucle bought for about $20 at Stitches, and a sweater quantity of white Katia inherited from my grandmother with a pattern book.

Two more small containers of DK, one with Classic Elite Premiere (I found the pattern I want to knit in the new Boathouse booklet) and some Filatura yarn that was an on-sale buy. Pretty stuff, but I haven't been inspired to use it yet.

The bin of bulky yarns for kids, including some Checkheaton Merino that was originally for Kaylie (Mom, I want turquoise, that's too green), and Sirdar Snuggly Chunky in coral and bright yellow. I have a pattern book for the Sirdar stuff.

This is Faith from Ami-Ami and hasn't found a bin to call home yet.

Two bins, one with more Brooks Farm Harmony (sweater quantity) and some really cool wool-tencel boucle that my mom gave me (she bought it at Stitches).

Sport-weight yarns, including a bag of this red cotton stuff from Elann, (going clockwise) some peach fuzzy stuff from Elann (what was I thinking? Oh yeah, I thought the kids would like it... hah!), a hank of ribbon from Interlacements (I'm using a pattern from Tess for that), a few oddballs of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino leftover from a baby hat, a ball of wool with glitter for some unknown purpose, and 2 balls of Knit Picks fancy stuff to make a scarf.

A sweater quantity of Artfibers Kyoto ready to go.

Cherry Tree Hill Oceania, in Java colorway. There is a pattern in an old Knitters for this that I plan to use.

A drawer hiding in the closet, which contains Classic Elite Waterspun (mmmmm), Charisma (huge amount), a couple of balls of Plymouth Electra in the middle, some Curious Creek mohair on the bottom purchased at Full Thread Ahead (mmmm), and four balls of Classic Alpaca gifted by my mom.

Bin of heavy worsted/bulky stuff. From top left, Barcelana Lana-Cabra, a hank of hand-dyed cotton from ebay, a slew of mohair some hand-paint from ebay and some gifted by MIL, Trendsetter Dune, Colinette Athene, Noro Kochoran, and the remainder of some Cherry Tree Hill sitting in the middle.

Sweater quantities of very bulky stuff. Clockwise from left, some Noro very bulky stuff that will make a cool tote, some Colinette Giotto in black/white, Noro Big Bebe that was a steal from Creative Hands, Colinette Tagliatelli (love that stuff), Handmaiden Stretto yarn bought at StitchDC, more of that bulky Noro in a green colorway (tote bag). In the middle is some Claudia's mohair boucle I grabbed at Vanessa's. The Knit Picks in the middle was bought to carry with the mohair boucle, although the color might be off. We'll see.

These are samples from tote bags in the closet, of stuff I plan to do very soon. One is a kit from Knitability (I have mixed feelings about the color). I have 3 large hanks of Interlacements Peru (top right) that I think will be great for a hoodie. And then, I have 2-3 hanks of more of that wool-tencel boucle. I'm thinking tie-front cardi.
Now we get to the late additions, just photographed yesterday.

Schaefer Yarn Helene, bought at Knitters Studio on sale (40% off, what a deal), in a sweater quantity. I've wanted a navy cardigan for quite a while and this yarn called my name. My mom said her Helene shed quite a bit but another woman in the store said she hadn't had that problem. So, I took my chances, because the yarn is so yummy...

Alchemy Silk Purse in Madre Deus, and Alchemy Pure Alpaca in Sonoma Sunset. These now live in the lace basket.
Here's a scary thing. I just realized I didn't take any pictures in the two Scarf Yarn drawers... the lighting is bad over them, so the photos would not have been enjoyable. Let's just say I have some Great Adirondack Fluff, Ironstone Showstopper, Prism Stuff (only on sale), and oddballs that are for novelty scarves - great gifts.
Is this really SABLE? I'm young - I don't think so! But I can assure you that the Yarn Diet started last week, after I blew so much on that Helene. Onward with knitting!
