Green mohair boucle

20 questions...
1. Name of Project: Green Boucle Sweater
2. Pattern Source: Great Knit Designs - software for pattern creation - and Knitting from the Top by Barbara G. Walker
3. Yarn: Boucle from Claudia Handpaints
4. Fiber: 78% mohair, 13% wool, 9% nylon
5. Color: Jungle
6. Where did I get the yarn? Vanessa's Needlepoint and Knitting
7. Is it the yarn called for? Yes, since I designed the sweater specifically to go with the yarn
8. How long did it take to knit? At least six months, but not continuous work!
9. Did I change anything? Yes. I did the software design for a set-in sleeve. When I seamed the shoulder tops, I realized that seaming the boucle was going to be horrendous. I remembered a post from Lauren (who is now blogless) about top-down set-in sleeves, and described by Barbara Walker, and decided to try that instead of a traditional sewn-on sleeve. It was a great technique, especially for this bulkier yarn.
10. What would I have done differently? Nothing.
11. Were the instructions clear? Is this question relevant? The instructions in the Walker book are great, if you aren't scared of math.
12. What did I learn? How to do a knit-on set-in sleeve, how to use Knitware.
13. Was it worth it? Yes.
14. Would I do it again? I don't need more boucle sweaters. I will use the software and the sleeve technique again.
15. What seaming methods were used? None!!!!!
16. Will I knit with the yarn again? Maybe. It's a nice yarn, beautiful colors, but how many mohair boucle sweaters does one need?
17. Do I think I’ll wear it? Yes, in the winter. Heck, it's been cold enough this summer in SF to wear it.
18. Process or Product? Process.
19. Do I have shoes to match? No, but I have socks.
20. Final Thoughts: A little bit of math goes a long way.
